Lollipop 5.01: notification history?

Still trying to come to grip with how notifications work in Lollipop.

The issue I'm finding is it will pop up a truncated notification in the Lockscreen, but when I unlock it to reveal the rest of the message, it's gone and I can't find any list of notifications anywhere.

If I can tell it's a text I can go into the app and see if there's anything new, which isn't ideal, but I can get by with it, but for others, I'm all at sea.

Any tips?

I have found that with emails, you can drag to expand and read them, but not texts. The safest way I've found is to double tap on the notification, then it prompts you to enter the lockscreen code, then it opens the message you'd double tapped on. The remaining notifications remain in the panel.

Thanks, it's not just me then. I would call that behaviour broken.

It's certainly not intuitive. But I mostly like Lollipop.
