I am switching from Verizon to T-Mobile and may purchase the 2013 Nexus 5. I would wait for the 2015 version but 5.2'' is personally too big for me and I prefer 4.95".

    1) How is the coverage? I understand it does not support Band 12 (which I admittedly don't know what it is or what it does).
    2) Is there anything about the phone I should know about that may persuade me into not buying it?

Anything else, feel free to share. Thanks

Well, battery life isn't too good. Band 12 is a T-Mobile band, if you're going to be on Tmo you'd want the hardware for that. Other than that, I love my Nexus 5. Due to the battery though, I'm going to be buying a 2015 Moto G, most likely.

I do have T-Mobile, what are the advantages of Band 12? Is it necessary?

Yes, for volte or something, I'm not sure. But you'll want a band 12 capable phone going forward.

I love my 2013 Nexus 5, but like the others, with my biggest gripe is with its battery life. I'm lucky to get a full day out of mine with only occasional touch screen use. I think my next phone may actually be the new 2015 Moto X Pure Edition. The screen is huge (5.7"), but I suppose I'd get used to that.

    1) Band 12 is T-Mo's 700 MHz band. It may not even be in your city. Ask at a store. The N5 supports T-Mo's two other LTE bands (2, 1800 MHz; and 4, 1900 MHz) just fine. Band 12 has better building penetration but it's slower. Lots of N5s on T-Mo with no problem.
    2) If it's cheap, and you have chargers everywhere, why not?

If you can wait, see what the new N5 looks like. The leaked pics make it look like they squeezed the larger screen into the same-sized chassis, so it may not be too bad. Plus, when it comes out more people will dump their N5s, so used ones will get cheaper.
