I haven't rooted my device in a while. So i'm wondering is there any real benefit of rooting, anymore? I'm running stock 6.0 and the battery life is quite good on my Nexus 5. Especially, Doze mode is amazing.

There's some system stuff that I still use.... battery monitors need system access to get more detailed stats. Titanium Backup needs root to do its full thing. And I still fuss with custom kernels from time to time, so root allows me access to the config. That's about it.

I haven't for a few years. I always buy Nexus devices and just don't feel the need anymore. I do have a Nexus 4 I play around with a little. I'm gonna put 6.0 on it very soon, but it's just playin' aroumd.

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

Nah -- last phone I 'rooted' was my SII, although that ended up running CyanogenMod (with built-in root).

I need a stable daily driver with little to no bloat, that's why I get Nexus phones and typically do a factory-flash of a new OS (e.g., I wiped KitKat off my old N4 with a factory Lollipop install when that OS came out). It can take many hours out of your day to do that (although it's only once a year or so), but I run into far fewer problems that way.

I still root most of my devices for Xposed, Viper4Android, Tasker, disabling services and removing bloatware.

It depends and phone you have and what apps you want... I use tasker a lot and with root you have full benefit. The big thing with 6.0 is app permissions.
