How to add a homescreen without apps/widgets?

Hello everyone
I know that to add an additional home screen you drag an app to the right. That's cool but now that app (angry birds in this case) is on the new home screen and when I remove it the new screen disappears. I also tried moving that app to the very bottom row (circled in green) but this also causes the new home screen to disappear. I don't mind the ones circled in green.

That's how the native launcher works on that phone. Use a different launcher and you can add blank homescreens.

Thanks! I looked into it and tried Nova Launcher. It works great! Idk why Lollipop didn't include customization levels that Nova Launcher has.
