How do I do an OTA on my Nexus 6 to lollipop 5.1 using an adb sideload?

I am trying to do OTA on Nexus 6 to lollipop 5.1 using adb sideload.

After the .zip file is transferred, the following error message is received : error in sideload package status 7 and the update stops.

OTA means over the air, the opposite of sideload.

And evidently the file you downloaded is corrupted. Don't download it unless the site shows the MD5 (or sha1). Then once you've downloaded it, run it through an MD5/sha1 program and compare it with the number on the site. (Most programs allow you to paste that number into a box.) If they're not the same, it's a bad download.

Even if they are the same, the file could just be bad. All the MD5 check tells you is that you got an exact copy of the file on the site. If the file on the site is corrupted, you got an exact copy of a corrupted file.
