I received my invitation to Project Fi yesterday and want to give it a try. I sold my Nexus 6 a few months ago, so I will have to buy another one today. Is there a carrier version that is considered unlocked as if I purchased it from the Play Store? I can order one from the Play Store, but I kind of wanted to get it all setup while waiting for the SIM from Google.

Thanks. What I was asking is which of the carriers have a Nexus 6 considered "unlocked", as in not SIM locked or loaded with bloat.

Looks like Sprint and T-Mobile are my best bet.

My local BestBuy has an unlocked version in stock, but it says GSM only. The Nexus 6 should work on all carriers, right?

I bought my unlocked 64GB N6 on Amazon (sold by Motorola) for $549. If you're a prime member you'll get it in 2 days. I think the 32 GB version was $499.

All Nexus 6's are carrier unlocked. But if you get one from a carrier, it will have the carrier logo. You may be able to find one cheaper (new in box) on ebay.

The AT&T version is carrier locked, till you pay it off (or you buy it at full price), and get AT&T to send you the unlock code.

I meant that you need to buy one at full price. But if you're going to do that, you may as well get it from the Play Store.
