App menu search bar

I've been using my phone tonight and the apps were as normal where I scrolled left and right for the apps.

I placed it on charge and when taking it off I went back into the app menu for something and noticed that I had a search bar at the top and had to scroll up and down. Its also seems to have kept my last 4 used apps in a separate drawer at the top.

It hasn't done any system updates that I can see

There's an easy way to disable the app suggestions. Long press on your screen, select settings and switch it off. For the vertical scrolling you'll need a custom launcher.

Welcome to the new Android M app drawer. Some of the hoi polloi seem to like it. People of taste and refinement, it goes without saying, do not.

The only thing I did not like about the Google Now Launcher before today was the scrolling....
The horizontal scrolling is so unrational, the vertical scrolling is so....natural...
