So a friend of mine, who is an Android expert, was checking out my Nexus 6 device the other day, and he noticed that my Nexus 6 hadn't been updated yet to Android 7.1.1 and hadn't event received the Security Patches for May or June.

Both he and I had attempted to 'pull' the OTA updates, but, as the attached shows, my Nexus 6 shows "You Are Up To Date"

So I am wondering, is the problem with my phone or Sprint?

nexus 6 is end of life and is no longer supported with updates
Understood...

But according to what I have been told, and what I have read, my Nexus 6 should at least be eligible for the Android 7.1.1 update and both the May Security Update and the June Security Update.

Not officially eligible because Google backed off of supporting 7.1.1 on the Nexus 6. Maybe you remember the flap-up a few months back from people already on 7.1.1 who were getting updates rolling them back to 7.0? At the time G claimed that 7.0 was going to be the only Nexus 6 android version getting OTAs of any kind directly from them. (Probably because carriers were whining about having to test a new android version on a 2014 phone that was nearing its end of life.) Everyone on 7.1.1 and anyone who wants to be on 7.1.1 has to sideload the OTA images or flash the full factory images for 7.1.1.

You should still have received the 7.0 security updates for May & June, though. If you don't want to sideload or flash, then you may want to complain to your carrier or at least try getting help/sending feedback to Google from your phone.

Okay...so today I was forced to reboot my and for some amazing reason, when I rebooted my phone, I was prompted to update my phone.

So after the update, I am finally at 7.1.1 and the June Security Update.

Not sure what the charges was, but at least now I am up to date.

I am on Fi and my last OTA was for Jan 2017 patch level. I ended up sideloading the OTA for June 2017. As of now, Nexus 6 is semi EOL, so I do not expect regular OTAs from Google, DIY is the way to go.

Google is still issuing security patch OTAs. The fact that they don't install automatically is a mystery. Sideloading is the only answer.

I'm in the same boat. I have yet to get the 7.1.1 update for my Google Nexus 6. But my Verizon Nexus 6 got the update last week. And it doesn't have sim card. ?? Just used for the internet. Ok so I guess I'll side load, how is it done. I've never done this. Thanks
