For some unknown reason the current model of Nexus 7 2013 does not support OTG natively. In the 2012 model there was no such problem. But sandisk usb otg dual pen drive is recognised by the ES file explorer directly, where as any other normal usb pendrive with otg cable is not recognised by the nexus 7 2013. Well done Sandisk. It has solved the storage expansion problem of Nexus 7 2013. Purchase of additional app for non rooted nexus 7 2013 is not required to mount this genius of a pen drive.

I noticed this as well until I did TowelRoot and rooted. Pretty simple to do and doesn't wipe your system either. Give it a try.
