You should update the binaries. Usually that means that you did not flash the most up to date version of SuperSU.

The latest version is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1538053

You would flash it in recovery. The link says "CWM / TWRP / MobileODIN installable ZIP" so it is compatible with most recoveries.

You Download the zip and put it on your nexus. Then boot into recovery. Flash the zip. Reboot the tablet. I believe you can make a backup in recovery as well if you are worried.

TWRP? You mean the latest version of Supersu? Yes. Download it, put it on your nexus, then flash in recovery.

Usually you flash a ROM before a kernel, but in this case, it seems you don't. The elementalx kernel has the OTG USB charge enabled. My nexus 7 2013 is stock and untampered :P so I only know so much.

Check out the xda forum for stuff like that.

Best thing to do is read! Best of luck!

Edit: Sorry, linked it to the nexus 7 2012 version. Updated it so it links to the 2013 forum.
