Sent back to Asus - Lost my best friend

So I was using the tablet (that I bought on 2/14 from Staples) and syncing it with Verizon Messenging...it synced...and then it froze. Like it could see the lock screen, but it wouldnt respond. I could get to recovery but it never would ask me to "wipe/ format". I did a chat with Asus and she couldn't walk me through the full recovery either. So I had to send it back. It's only been a month, but three days without my best friend is TERRIBLE. Now I'm quite honestly concerned that they will send me another dud (or that I was doing the recovery incorrectly) but either way - I WANT HER BACK!...ok, done venting :'(
