Importing vCard files

I imported my outlook contacts as vcard files then went to people to " Import from storage". It starts to import all the contacts then systematically deletes them all. I have tried several times - it counts up as it imports then starts counting down and all the files are gone from the contact list?

I'd personally import your contacts into gmail first, then they'll all sync from there to the device. It is a much more elegant solution.
