Docked Nexus sleeps rather than daydreams

I have just purchased the official dock for my Nexus 7.
When I dock the tablet it switches to the clock as set by daydream feature after 5 mins.
But at some point later (over an hour later) stops displaying clock and I get a blank screen.
This does not happen when I use the charger instead of dock - the tablet continues to show clock until screen is touched.
Any ideas?
The daydream feature is set to start on either dock or charge and the sleep feature is set for 5mins

What has your screen time-out duration been set to?

I can only find the sleep time which is set to 5mins

I think that's your problem. Change it to ten minutes and tell us the results.
