I've been playing around with various music player apps for my new Nexus 7, including:

    - Nexus Media Importer
    - PowerAmp
    - N7 Player

One thing I like about iTunes is that when I sort by album (with the cover art showing) it automatically puts them in order based on the artist... not by the album name. Every app I've tried thus far has not done this, instead it sorts by the album name. Annoying if you have 500+ albums to sort through. Is there a setting in any of these programs that I am perhaps overlooking?

I have nearly 10,000 songs so organization is key. Thanks in advance.

i think they already have me sold by the first line of the description:

Simple to use music player for all those who prefer folder structure over tags. (You want your mix folder, not separated by artists, right?).

That's one thing that's been driving me nuts with the other players - I have 500+ compilation artists (one hit wonders, etc) and most players list them as individual artists in the artists list, rather than grouping them into the appropriate compilations (in my case, I have each a compilation for 70's hits, 80's hits, and 90's hits - helps keeps my iTunes organized). Really makes navigating your artist list an eyesore.

Looks like Mort might be the solution to this. Thanks for the recommendation, looking forward to trying it.

Good call. MortPlayer has been around for a while, and is one of the few players that goes by the folder hierarchy rather than ID3 tags, and therefore bypasses some of the problems Android has historically had reading ID3 tags. The only slight drawback about Mortplayer is that the UI isn't supersexy, but I prefer substance over style anyway.

Hmm. Why does it need to know my call information? It's a music app. It doesn't need to know who I'm calling.

It needs access to call data just so it can recognize there is a call and can pause/resume the track.
