How long will Google support the 2012 Nexus 7?

I am just curious. Usually Google states that an Android device, depending on specs and hardware, will be supported with updates for a minimum of 18 months post release. I wonder how long do you think this great tablet will be shown the update door before it is slammed shut in favor of newer Nexus devices going forward. Another 6 months? A year? I think its a safe bet, IMHO, that its going to get Android 4.4 KitKat, but do you think it will be the last major OS update it sees in its lifetime?

I agree it should see Kit Kat and I hope so being a fellow Nexus 7 2012 owner. Beyond that it may come down to hardware specifications dictating which devices will receive future OS upgrades. If a device doesn't support newer code that takes advantage of newer hardware specifications then it's a hard sell to any company to spend resources on it.
