Just read Android's tweet and they say the Nexus 7 2012 is getting KitKat today. Anyone got the update yet?

I've got 3 to get working and can't wait. I'm updating one and seeing how it goes before updating the other 2.

Looks so far like the only update actually being seen "in the wild" is the one for the 2013 Wifi Nexus 7. I have a feeling it's still going to be several days for the 2012 Nexus 7, and if you have a Nexus 4 it's going to be several weeks (December'sh) before Google get's around to Kit Kat for it.

AC posted the way to manually update to Kitkat, if you just have to have it immediately.

They have only posted a link for the 2013 N7 image so far. We can't use the manual method until there are update images for the 2012 N7. But for those who are really impatient the Paranoid Android team have released a 4.4 AOSP ROM for the Wifi 2012 N7.

Wow, you got xda to work? . Ha ha been having trouble accessing from my phone today. Just figured they're servers are getting hammered.

Does this need to get flashed? Or through stock recovery?

You can use the sdk on Linux. It's what I used to sideload the update

I've side loaded and everything seems to be working fine. I installed the apks of GEL 3.1.8 and the launcher and it all works. Transparent top and bottom panels, Google now on right swipe and 'okay Google' from the home screen.

I side loaded about eight hours ago and haven't hit a single snag.

Sideloaded today from Linux. Everything seems fine, although battery and WiFi icons are white instead of blue. Haven't found any of my apps that want to work with the HP print stuff, but cloud print seems to work.

I stopped waiting and used Android Central's sideloading article to get KitKat. There's nothing new. Previous to installing KitKat I got the updates to hangouts and google search. Once the update to kitkat finished I noticed the blue font changed to white and the unlocking circle at the lockscreen looks different. I also gained 200mb back to my storage.
