Hello all! So, I've got a really annoying problem with adware on my Nexus 7. I can't find the app responsible and I haven't had luck finding any info online either! So I'm hoping I can get some assistance here.

The particular adware is manifesting itself as a black bar that slides up behind my home bar. It keeps popping up every second or so then dropping back down. It'll sometimes go all the way to the line separating the home bar from the rest of the apps on the screen, but never above it. Whenever I press it while that black bar is up, it'll sometimes open up Chrome and take me to some advertisement page that's always bank-72.ads then moves somewhere else, or it opens up the Play store and takes me to the DoubleDown casino app (I don't think I've seen it take me anywhere else in the store) to download. I can time my home bar presses with the black bar to get around it but, needless to say, this is EXTREMELY annoying.

I've download a few different adware/malware programs (Lookout and one or two others I can't recall) but they don't find anything, so I'm stuck. Can someone help?

I'll work on attaching a video of it later.

Welcome to Android Central! It can be difficult to pinpoint what app is responsible for that kind of adware. You may just have to uninstall apps one by one until it goes away. You could also check the reviews on Google Play for each of your apps to see if anyone else mentions adware.

Get Lookout Security and Anti-Virus. Then add their pug-in called Ad Network Detector. Use A.N.D. to scan your apps...

You get a list of actions that adware can take and how many adware programs are in each action category. Tapping a category reveals the names of each adware program using that action category and how many apps use that adware program. Tapping the adware program name reveals the list of apps subscribing to that program and some descriptions on how the adware program works and behaves.

    A supremely useful diagnostic tool...

I thought ad network detectors were mostly useful for ads that appear in the notifications. Have you seen success with those detectors for other types of adware, like popup windows?

I've not had pop-up issues thus far... But I do like knowing what apps use adware and what permissions those adware agencies were given by the app.

And pop-up by itself is not a category, but finding the app giving away the most permissions to adware is a pretty good clue when hunting down culprits.
