Why isn't my Nexus 7 awakening after Android 5.1 upgrade?

Nexus 7 not awakening after Android 5.1 upgrade

I initiated the latest Android upgrade to 5.1 on our Nexus 7. After a few minutes it closed and we viewed menu. The next day the battery did not rise in charge level. A day later it declared "1 day 7 hours to fill battery" or something like that. In two days I opened OK, then went on to other things.
Now it will not wake up at all.

Is this the time to trash and buy something else?

I have solved my own issue. As I did once before, I popped the cover off my Nexus 7 and disconnected the battery. After a few seconds I reconnected it and put the cover back in place. Pushed the power button and after a few seconds the friendly word 'Google' appeared. I waited, wathcing the juggling balls until it was ready and voila!, I'm back in business. I found the upgrade to Android 5.1 had been downloaded but installation was not complete. It is doing it now.
This whole process mimics the standard fix for corded digital devices, which is to pull the plug!!!!!
