So I tried replacing the screen on my N7 tonight. I got the original screen off the bezel (eventually). Unfortunately when I tried to put the new screen/digitizer into the old bezel I applied too much pressure and the new screen cracked!
So before I purchase yet another new screen I wanted to check that the tablet would at least work.
I connected the now-cracked new screen - the screen cable, the touchscreen cable and the battery cable.
When I connected the battery cable I unfortunately snapped off one of the small gold pins next to the battery connector.
I did not re-screw the tablet to the case.
The tablet appears to draw power, according to a power meter, when plugged in.
But I can't get the screen to work, when I press the power button nothing happens (also tried holding down for 30 secs, no good).
Should the tablet work without the back cover and screws in?
Might the gold pin I knocked off have meant the tablet won't turn on fully?
