the only thing I don't like about the nexus 7

I agree. It isn't that bad, but it is a little goofy with all of the buttons on the same side and so close to each other.

That's how every Android device I have ever used works . . . It takes a bit to get used to how to take a pic without getting the volume to appear, but it is possible.

I would hate there to be a specific button for it since it is used so seldomly. However, you can download an app that lets you shake the device to take a screenshot.
