Hey Guys, I brought my nexus 7 2013 model yesterday, and set it up as usual, also updated it to kitkat.

After using it for a while i reliese that the battery drops 2-3% in one go and instead DOESNT go down progressively.
For example, Ill use it for half and hour and instead of going from 30>29>28% it would rather go from 30% down to 28% missing the 29.
Would anyone have a possible solution to this?

Also, my screen brightness is the lowest it can be but still uses 33% of my battery, with android OS using 18% even when i hardly use the tablet (standby)

Welcome to Android Central, and congratulations on your new N7! That all sounds fairly normal. The battery stats poll the battery only at certain intervals, so if you're using the tablet in a normal fashion, the battery might go down faster than if the tablet is idle--so the battery indicator might skip a percentage number. 33% of your battery usage is not surprising--remember that the screen will typically be the biggest battery user, especially with that beautiful ultra-HD screen. The total screen-on time is a better indicator of how your battery is doing--expect a total of 4-5 hrs of total screen-on time with the N7 (but of course, that will depend on the apps you're using).

Also, give the battery a few charge cycles to break in.

hey thanks for advice. It says 7h 20m 18s time on so far, is this a good thing. What exactly is time on? this is my first android device ever purchased

The time on means how long since the tablet powered up. For the most part, Android devices don't need to be powered off--just put to sleep, which can be achieved by tapping the Power button.

What Golfdriver97 means is that we often see battery life improve after the first few cycles of charging up full, then discharging to a low level in the course of using it. No need to drain it all the way to zero (this is actually never a good idea any way)--just use it until it's down to 20-30%, then charge it up overnight.

Devices are made to trickle charge once they hit a certain percentage. After that, the charging pretty much stops. It is difficult to overcharge devices these days.
As for your other question, I am guessing the tablet sits idle a lot. When it does the OS starts accounting for most of the battery drain.

The system prevents an overcharge and shutdown charging as required. Also, don't get to tied to the percentage displayed. At best it just an estimate of the charge remaining in the battery.
