My Nexus 7 (2013 version) became locked and unusable after a failed hard reset.

AC Question

All recommended attempts to recover the Nexus 7 after the screen was locked failed until I just tried swiping the screen from bottom to top a few times when I found that I got a few apps at the bottom of the screen including the centre button. After tapping this, all my apps appeared and I am now able to use the tablet normally without problem. However, the lock symbol inside a circle still won't disappear when I turn the tablet on again. Can anybody recommend any way to remove it?

When you say 'when I turn the tablet on' do you mean when you wake it from sleep, or when you actually turn the power on?

It sounds like you've enabled the Swipe screen lock (with no PIN, pattern or password). You would turn that off in Settings -> Security -> Screen lock; just set it to 'None'.
