My nexus nine is less then a year old and it had just died

It was fine while I was checking email and reading the Guardian online but has gone blank after a few minutes of the catch up of the ITV prog Vera

Welcome to Android Central! Was the battery low at the time it died? Press and hold Power for 10-15 seconds to see if anything happens. If nothing happens, charge the tablet on a wall outlet for at least 4-6 hours undisturbed, then try powering on again.

You should be still under the warranty. Contact Google and get it replaced.
