I'm definitely getting the unlocked V30 and possibly both pixels but are they the only phones left to consider in terms of combination of specs/design/performance/battery/camera for 2017? Thanks

Huawei Mate 10 is one that you left off your list in terms of new phones that can be a top shelf phone contender.

They sent invites for an event on Oct 16th, speculation is that it's for the Mate10

It should definitely support ATT and TMO. I am not too sure about VZW. Mi Mix 2 will work on VZW because the Mi Mix and Mi Note 2 worked on VZW. I have a spare VZW SIM and will most likely get a Mate 10 so will test it out.

Since you're collecting one of everything, do you have a PH-1 yet? Rumor has it they're kind of hard to get right now.

I'm sure I'll get raked over the coals for suggesting it. lol

I've got my Pixel XL, which is great, but as a T-Mobile user, I've got to say an unlocked V30 ticks all the boxes except for software updates. Band 71 is a big issue, plus a headphone jack, etc. I really want Google to get this right, but I feel like LG might have already done it.

Doesn't the V30 come with Nougat and not Oreo? I infer that LG software updates are not exactly timely. That would be a deal-breaker for me. Not that Oreo has anything I can't live without but the idea of paying a premium for a phone now, after the Oreo release, that doesn't come with the latest rev and no real date or getting it would really bother me.

I want to get excited about the Pixel XL 2, but the combination of LG hardware and Google software is very concerning. LG has had bad quality control issues and I know a lot of people like to be the first to get updates from Google, but Google messes up the software much more than they should and you end up waiting a month, or longer, for them to straighten out the problems. The Nexus and Pixel phones have had numerous bluetooth and other connectivity issues.

This is different from an LG phone. LG is only the factory here, they have no input on design, components or engineering decisions.

I get that. The quality control issues would come from the factory.
