update: nope.

Updated on October 6, 2017 – Well, looks like the Pixel 2 won't charge faster after all. Google released a statement after we published this post to clarify that, while the USB port on the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL is technically capable of supporting 27W charging, the circuitry and battery itself are not. In other words, you'll be limited to 18W charge speeds no matter what. We apologize for the confusion.

Glad I have a 27W/3A adapter sitting on my desk ready to go.

I still plan to slow-charge overnight with an 850mA adapter just to save stress on the battery. That should take about 3-4 hours depending on initial charge level.

Woohoo. Using the s8 I miss real fast charging. I am currently on the fence regarding this device and this doesn't make it any easier

Exactly why I wish Google had brought back wireless charging as on the Nexus 6. I'm gonna miss that once I make the switch. This aluminum or glass nonsense has got to end some time.

Well, what's your solution? HTC started the all metal build. I like it personally. In the military we say if you are going to complain, make sure you have a solution too.

This one also looks great and has great reviews:

Maxboost Quick Charge 3.0 30W 2-Port USB Wall Charger, QC 3.0 USB for Galaxy S8/S7/edge,Note 8/5/4/2,LG G6 G5,HTC One A9/M9, Nexus 5x 6P,Pixel 2 XL; mSmart Tech. w/2.4A USB for iPhone X 8 7 Plus,iPad https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MFX5AV...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU6007384

That one is a "Quick Charge" model. Pixels don't use Qualcomms "Quick Charge".

You want to look for USB PD (Power Delivery) models for the fastest charging for Pixel devices. The PD 2.0 or 3.0 models are probably even better.
