Are any other 128 Pixel/Pixel XL owners downgrading storage space on the Pixel 2?

I own the 128 GB Pixel XL, and will be purchasing the 64 GB Pixel 2 XL. I could have gotten away with the 32 GB Pixel, since as of today I have only used a little under 21 GB, but i wanted to be cautious. I would have used more, but I tested myself to see if I can keep myself under 32 GB in preparation for the Pixel 2 (if it had a the same storage options as the original Pixel).

64 GB seems to be sweet spot for me. 32 GB would probably be enough, but I'd have to watch my storage usage, but 128 GB has proven to be overkill. I do think they should have kept a 32 GB because some people might have been willing to purchase one at the lower price it would been who might not have otherwise.

I have to disagree with your last point. I think 32gb devices need to be phased out across the board. The only manufacturer that can get away with having a lot of SKUs is Apple. So it's better to have 64gb be the minimum rather than 32gb.

Yes, I'm downgrading from my 128 XL to the 64 2 XL. Like you, 128 was overkill for me. In a year's time with my current XL I've only managed to use about 20 GB. I understand everyone's situation is different, but 64 will be more than enough for me.

I went with 128 GB again. I could easily live with 64 GB but since I'm already shelling out a decent amount of cash I decided to go with 128 again. That way when I load my phone up for trips I don't even have to think about storage. I just use and go.

Pretty much exactly this. 128 now, went with 128 again. I could probably do with 64 (checked my phone and I am at 55GB now, not managing storage one bit, so it could be lower if needed). I went with 128 just to be safe

I am actually debating this very thing right now. Currently on my 128 I'm using about 73, and that is with automatic photo backups turned on. I'll bet I could probably live with 64 if I actively managed my space a bit more but I just don't know.

The part that gets me, is that the $100 premium for a 4x storage jump with the original Pixel seemed reasonable, and was more easily palatable to me than the current $100 increase in price for only twice the storage. If it had been a $50 increase I would be all over it, or even if the new high capacity Pixel was a 256 GB version. While I can't honestly imagine ever needing anywhere near 256gb of space on a phone, I honestly said the same thing about the 128 version last year as I bemoaned the lack of a 64gb option... and now my 128 is well over half full.
