I heard key presses in my back pocket.. It happened quite a bit yesterday. Has anyone else accidentally dial keys while the phone is in their pocket?

Funny you mention this. Just today, i took my phone out of my front pocket (never keep it in the back) and it told me I had to wait 30 seconds because it's my 5th try at an incorrect PIN. I use fingerprint unlock. It was an odd thing. I wasn't doing anything unusual.

I haven't yet. I keep my phone in my front right pocket but haven't noticed it triggering or anything while in there.

When I had it, yep it happened once. I changed a setting (I think double tap to wake) and it stopped.

It's crazy cause that's never happened with my LG phones. So it was really weird to me. I usually have way too many things in my pockets so I started using my back pocket on the G6 lol. I've become one of the hipsters I made fun of.

I think the 2XL uses it's accelerometer for the 'taps', which could be part of the issue. I had mine sitting on my knee in the car, and going over two bumps with my finger resting on the locked screen caused it to wake up.

I think I might have figured it out.

Lift to check phone must turn the phone on, then it happens.

Had similar issue with my LG G4 last time. Suspect is the double tap to wake function activated by my butt accidentally :P

I wonder if it is the lift to wake function I use the AOD so the option to turn the lift wake for people who use it isn't a option

which way do you face your phone in pocket? I always face the screen to my body to protect it.

Mine always faces in too, lift to wake or tap to wake on AOD shouldn't open the phone for key presses, I'm only using tap to wake now with AOD off

I had this issue all the time on my Samsung Galaxy S8. It affects lots of S8 users. Maybe it's an Android thing and needs Google to sort it. A simple setting to detect that it's in an enclosed space and the lock screen is on. This could prevent the phone from switching on. Samsung has this toggle but it patently is not working for many users. I'm sure Google could do better.

Had that problem with my Galaxy S7 Edge. I was carrying it in a cargo pocket while mountain biking, screen facing in so it wouldn't get smashed when I crashed. The screen kept getting unlocked and doing all sorts of stuff. I switched to fingerprint/PIN unlock and then it activated the emergency dialer and pocket dialed 911. I switched to carrying it in a pouch on my belt instead.

its definitely not the lift feature for me. I have that turned off actually. Perhaps the best thing to do in this case is lock your phone on the power button or have it set to sleep and lock after soon.
