If I'm on the Beta I can't sideload correct? Id need to opt_out, factory reset then sideload right?

I rolled back because Android Auto connection was acting up and not always triggering....then I got tired of waiting which doesn't normally happen to me.

Just rebooted the phone, for a non-update related reason. After it restarted, it prompted that the 8.1 update was available to me. Updating now.
Pixel 2 XL on Verizon.

Did you do this...

Plug your device into your computer and click "OK" on the dialog box asking you to Allow USB debugging while connected to the computer. You can also select to always allow access on that computer

Yes getting that prompt selected ok .
Still just can't get command prompt to work I moved my pixel folder downloads to a different drive to D USB drive and it recognizes that drive but I can't get past the beginning prompt after I switched command prompts to D drive.
Might have to just give up wait for a ota download

Yes I get a read error after I try to enter a command.
I'm sure I got to be missing something really basic here.

It may be basic. Try typing ./adb devices instead of just adb devices. That minor change may be all that you need. Add that dot-slash before every command you're told to enter, like

./adb reboot bootloader
./adb sideload [filenameofOTA].zip

Ok figured it out simple command prompt error was following directions in the video but the guy did not say to put CD in front of the prompt but that is necessary if you watch the video close enough you can see it's in there

I didn't use to need the dot-slash either. But ever since I updated the SDK in Android Studio to API 27, it's dot-slash or nothin. I always thought the dot-slash was a Mac-thing, but not no mo'.

Hoping 8.1 fixes phone call speaker buzz, battery drain, and inconsistent Bluetooth on my Pixel 2.

You need to check what apps you have running, the battery life on my P2XL is phenomenal. As for the buzz, don't have it at all, perhaps you have a defective product...

Does the fact that I'm running the Oreo 8.1 beta DP2 impact whether and when I receive the OTA? Thanks.

Yes, it does. DP2 will receive the update via the Beta channel, not the regular update channel.
