Speaker Sound Fades Out Over Phone Speakers

I notice lately if I am listening to music, audio book, or watching a youtube, my sound will go from normal to really low. I jack up the sound but nothing happens, then sound after a while will come back up full blast.

I have not noticed this via bluetooth yet, just the speakers.

Bug? User error?

Yes. Listening to google play now on safe mode and volume goes up and down.

Doing some searches and there are a few threads out there from Pixel owners with same problem. Started happening for me after 8.1 (I think).

Speakers still fading out. Warranty return? Bluetooth sound stays steady but speakers in and out. It looks like this is a known issue.

Hmmm I just did two things.

Took my thin clear case and put it back on. Also, ran check for updates (Device was up to date) Put the case back on and sound has not faded in and out for the last hour of testing. Hopefully, one of the two things I did fixed it.

One thing I noticed is I forgot how good the phone looks naked - very thin and sleek without the case. If I could find a front and back skin I think I would go that route and not have a case.
