Pixel 2 stock ringtones --- Seriously, Google?

My first cell phone, which I got in 2002, had a better ringtone selection than my 2017 Google Pixel 2. I find exactly two tones, be it for notification or as a ringtone, remotely acceptable, but the rest is just, no.

Do people really put up with this, or is there a place somewhere to get ringtones that do not sound like they came with a cell phone toy intended for toddlers?

Install another app and get what you need :).

I personally have mine set to one from Google and have no real faults with it.

I can't remember the last time I used preinstalled ringtones, because they're almost universally lame -- and I include iPhone ringtones. Especially iPhone ringtones.:'(

I just find a sound file online and download it to the /Ringtones directory. You actually don't have to install Zedge to do this -- just do a Google search for a particular ringtone or sound file you want. If its in Zedge, you can download it directly from their website, then move that sound file to the /Ringtones directory. My current ringtone is the end title theme from Buckaroo Banzai (which I trimmed down using Ringdroid), and my notification tones are various Star Trek sounds. Because I'm a nerd.:p

I still remember when one of my favorite things to do upon getting a new phone was going through all the new ringtones that were available to me! Haha. But yeah, now with Zedge, I haven't even gone to the ringtone selection screen on the last several phones I've used/owned.

Zedge is an easy way to get additional ringtones. For myself I'm just using the stock sounds and rather like them, shrug.

Stock Ringtones are fine with me... Just need to know you've got a phone call, right?
I've noticed more and more when I'm out that quite a few people don't bother with changing the default notifications & ringtones anymore. Yes, there are exceptions like a friend of mine who has custom ringtones and text alerts for everyone, but that seems to be the exception these days.

I feel bad for anyone that has an iPhone though. I notice this a LOT especially with iPhone users with text tones. One goes off and you have everyone else who has an iPhone wondering if their phone got that text.

Aside from that, I agree with the comment on the stock ringtones. I was disappointed in all of them but since I'm trying out this phone, I'm leaving it alone.

iPhones are notorious for that. When I had an iPhone X, I had tri-tone for my texts, and whenever I got a text, half the people in the office would check their iPhones to see if they got a text. I'm always reminded of "be together, not the same" and that's particularly true in this case.

I'm not a fan of the stock ringtones either. I changed all mine.

I customize the ringtone for my gf, my sister and some family and that's it for that. I customize SMS tones for my gf, sister, and a few good friends and everyone else gets a standard ring.

Then most apps get their own notification sound from Viber to Voicemail and everything in between.

I can say I don't think I used more than 1 stock notification/ringtone sound for accomplishing any of this. I used some ringtone and notification apps that I liked better than zedge though. Don't ask me which ones as I uninstalled them right after getting the tones :)

There are a few notification sounds that I like, but I don't really care for the built in phone ringtones. I actually used to copy a built in ringtone that came from my HTC Incredible from phone to phone :D. It isn't on my 2 xl though

I have iPhone 8 plus, Pixel 2XL, Note 8 and iPhone X and hate all the included ringtones.

I download Zedge for my Android phones and download all the custom ringtones I want.

Then i copy them to my PC and rename them and import to iTunes and sync them on my iPhones

I've used the same mp3 for my ringtone for several years. I copy it from my computer or cloud storage whenever I get a new phone. It's the sound of a phone ringing.

A friend of mine did that and his son asked him what it was to which he replied....a ringtone....yeah dad but what is it?

Honestly I find my Nexus 6 ringtones/notification sounds to be great, and since I rooted it along ago, I extracted all of the default sounds from it for safekeeping. Now when I transfer to a new phone I just copy those ringtones to their respective folders on the phone and set my apps to use them and I'm all good.

I do like the default notification sound from the Pixel 2, though. But the alarm selection SUCKS. Good thing I copied my Nexus 6's "Krypton" Alam sound or I'd never wake up to one
