OTA Updates & Substratum Non-Root Theming

Before I had my Pixel 2 XL, I had a Pixel XL. On both of these phones I was running the Substratum & Andromeda combo to use a theme with my phone, but with the Pixel XL when the monthly OTA came over it bricked my phone.. now with my Pixel 2 XL I'm curious if I should disable the theme pack before I install the June update...any input?

I always do a full backup, copy it (including /sdcard) to my PC, then still do the full factory version flash-all without formatting user data. I guess you could do the same, then try to install Substratum. It should refuse to install if there's an incompatibility problem.

(I had the same problem, not clearing out some changes before updating, that bricked the 2. They were sending me a replacement, but I determined to fix it while I waited. Deuces Bootloop-Recovery & Flashing Script works wonders for a lot of people. It fixed mine.)

it's ready. clear all the overlays, update ota, rebuild overlays, reboot, reapply overlays, reboot and your done.

Never had any issues with 2 XL
