It occurred to me that I could just as easily let you read the reply from Google by yourselves:
Google's reply:
Hi Kulana,
Thank you for contacting Google Support!
This is C...., the representative who assisted you today. It was a pleasure talking to you.
If you are having some issue with the fingerprint scanner, please try these steps.
Step 1: Reboot device into safe mode.
If your device's screen is on, follow these steps to reboot to safe mode:
Press & hold the Power button.1. In the box that opens, touch & hold Power off.2. You’ll see a “Reboot to safe mode” box. Tap OK.3. Your device will start in safe mode. You'll see the words "Safe mode" in a box at the bottom.4. Check Settings > Security. If the Pixel Imprint appears while in Safe Mode, restart in normal mode, and begin uninstalling third-party apps until the issue is resolved. 5.
If the issue is not resolved, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Reset your device to factory settings.
If the previous troubleshooting steps haven't solved the issue, you can try factory resetting your device.
By performing a factory data reset, all data will be erased from the device. While any data stored in your Google Account will be restored, all apps and their associated data will be uninstalled. Learn how to back up your data before performing a factory data reset.
The following page will guide you through the reset process for your particular device:

If the issue is still not resolved after resetting your device, please reply to this email for further assistance.
Thanks!
C....

My Reply to Google:
Hey C....,
Thank you for your help and advice.
I did Step 1 - rebooted in Safe Mode - and Pixel Imprint was there. I rebooted and the haptic feedback from the fingerprint scanner still was not happening.
Howeverl my third-party apps worked before the Pie upgrade, I'm not prepared to uninstall any of them to try to resolve the issue. I'll leave that up to Google.
As for Step 2 - Reset my Device - that's just not going to happen.
As I mentioned in our conversation, all the little anomalies are not going to cause me great distress however, I hope that Google will get them sorted soon.
All the very best,
Kulana
