I'm always interested to see how the new Google hardware is each year, but I agree -- the 2 XL experience has been great, so unless Google pulls an unexpected magical rabbit out of its hat on 10/9, I'll probably stick with what I have for another year.

And you never know -- if, for some reason, I have to send my current phone in for replacement at some point, they might send a 3 XL instead of a 2 XL. When I had to send in my old 6P using Nexus Protect a year ago, I got a shiny 1st gen Pixel XL in the mail (and then about a month later, I traded that in for the 2 XL to get the $400 credit).

What a great trade-in experience you had! And replacement experience!

And I love the "rabbit out of your hat" reference!

What screen protector is that with all those notches?

I dont think its available anymore on Amazon...it was pretty good but I replaced it with another one .. these dont cover the sides just the middle as if its flat screen which I like.

I see myself buying the 3xl this time next year and hopefully it's discounted. I would like to see wireless charging but of not no biggie. I keep a wireless charger on nightstand and desk at work very convenient.

Hey, there are plenty of $20+ cases that look like chunky space garbage jettisoned right before jumping to hyperspace, so if an $8 case looks good and works well, go for it!;)

When I look at the case selection for most phones, the vast majority seem to be either very basic TPU cases or big chunky super-protective cases that look like a tire tread. It's hard to find cases that look elegant or sleek.

Try Pitaka

Looks nice, but I prefer a case that doesn't have an actual cutout for the buttons. The one I've settled on as my favorite right now is the Incipio Carnaby -- the one with a grey fabric back. Looks great, gives me enough grip, and has nice clicky buttons that don't get pressed easily by accident.

You all got me looking at new cases now. Which I don't need till I get the Pixel 3 in like a month. Plus I really do love the feel, fit, protection and utility of my case. But I kind of want something slim. Maybe $8 is ok to waste for a month of slimness lol.
