How to enable dark mode on Contacts and Phone apps?

Almost. You'll have to wait until contacts updates to 3.2. You're probably still running 3.1, (It will be in the menu [upper left 3 lines], down at the bottom under the labels section.)

I barely use the Contacts app. I just access contacts from the phone app. To get dark mode on phone app you'll need to join the beta from the Google Play store.

Just as a point of information - a beta is not intended for people to get new features early/first just to get them, it's intended for people to get the new version and TEST it outside Google's labs, to flesh out bugs "in the wild". You may see bugs or issues with that app, and are expected to report them so they can be fixed for the final release.

I have the dark mode and I am not on beta. I know I had to do a hard reset to get the call screening and the dark mode to show up. Not sure if a hard reset is the answer but that's what worked for me.
