Darken text on pdf

I have a PDF that I can't read because the text is too light. How do I darken it? Thanks.

Open it in a .pdf editor. Change the font to bold, or to a thicker font (or both - a thicker font bolded).

But it has to be edited - you can't "darken" text in a file you can't modify. The file is just the characters, not how they look. In a .pdf file, the font (and bolding, italic, etc.) are specified external to the text itself.
