Just updated to Android 12. There's that green dot thingie to get access to Quick Settings or whatever. But it interferes with hitting the SEND in Text messages.

Can you post a screenshot? See if you have any option enabled in the Accessibility settings.

That was my first thought, as well, but the "green dot" doesn't look like it. We discussed about the one-handed shortcut in this other thread.

That looks like an Accessibility Shortcut, maybe the Accessibility Menu. Go to the Accessibility settings and see which options and apps are enabled in there.

It's definitely the Accessibility Menu shortcut (I just tested it). Go to Settings>Accessibility>Accessibility Menu and turn the toggle off there.

You folks just alerted me to another feature of Android 12 that doesn't work on my Pixel 3.
I have the toggle ON, but no GREEN DOT anywhere.
I just thought that the toggle just turned on the one handed mode.
What am I missing? What actually happens when you press the Green Dot that I don't have? Thanks.

The toggle is supposed to make the little Accessibility Menu shortcut appear at the right edge of the screen. Can you show a screenshot of the Accessibility menu with that shortcut toggle turned on?

No, I mean the actual Accessibility menu in the system settings, where that toggle is.

I had Sound Amplifier shortcut enabled on Android 11. After upgrading to Android 12 on my Pixel 5, I had an initial experience similar to FF22. So far I have left it on the screen, and move it around when needed.

It was just another "thing" to accidentally hit and trigger a result I did not want. I have no trouble swiping down from the top and finding what I want.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I'm still not quite sure how you've modified your display to make it look like that. This is the screenshot from my Pixel 3a XL:

How do I get ride of that GREEN Dot in the lower right. I hit it when I want to send text message-screenshot_20211113-090835.jpg

See how the header at the top is different? The font is bigger on mine, and its not on the same level as the Back arrow icon. (Also, the white bar at the very bottom of the screen for gesture navigation seems to be missing from yours.) It makes me wonder if something that you've done to modify the display is interfering. I already tried increasing the Font and Display sizes in the Accessibility Text and Display options, and I still can't duplicate how yours looks.

Maybe DPI settings? Worth checking the default value in the Developer Options.

The easiest way to see the DPI settings is typing "smallest" in the settings search bar, tap that option and see which value is selected.

I'm going to start from the beginning. I don't know how to use the Scrolling Screenshot because it doesn't work on my Pixel 3. I've taken 2 shots to fit the entire Accessibility Screen.
Also, my Developer Screen is not like yours. I don't really remember why I enabled it years ago, but I wonder if I disabled it, what would I would lose.

I'd recommend you to disable the Developer Options. You won't lose anything important, don't worry.

Go to settings - system - Developer Options and switch them off. This should restore everything in there to the default values, which is good at this point. After this restart the phone and see if it made any difference.

Even though I don't remember why I enabled Developer Options, there is one condition that I eliminated along the way, that fixed a problem with the extreme dimming of the LOCK SCREEN.
It was one of most annoying problems I had with the Pixel 3. Now that it's fixed, I'm afraid that, although I think it's remote, my system could return to the annoying problems.
If I disabled Developer Opinion, and the problem returns, what category in the Devopers Opinions could be possibly involved so I could fix it again.
Maybe I'm just too cautious. Thanks again as usual, especially now that you're moved on from Pixel 3 XL

I don't know of any Developer Option that could make the lock screen brighter and it's impossible for me to know which values you changed there. What I know is that some of those options can cause glitches in your phone if you don't know what you're doing.

For example, changing the dpi value (smallest width) your content will look bigger or smaller. The problem is that if you change that value outside the normal range some content will not be displayed correctly and this was my original guess. I'm not sure if this is the case but it's quite simple, see the value you have in 'Smallest width' and we'll try to compare with other phones that still have the default value.

Other approach could be you taking screenshots of the whole Developer Options menu (or noting them down), disable them, restart the phone and see what happens. This way you can compare which values were changed.

Please, before anything else just take a look at which value you have for Smallest Width in the Developer Options and tell us.
