So I just read an article that says you CANNOT turn off gestures and go back to normal three button nav. If that's true then this makes it DOA, at least for me. Anyone know how true that is?

This would be very stupid on Google's part, if true. I canceled my order, but would have returned it immediately if I received it and found this to be true. I planned to turn Google's gestures off and use immersive mode to hide them.

It is true, I've been testing them on my Pixel 2 XL and I find it better. I don't see what the problem is. I haven't once wanted to revert to the 3 button method. This is faster.

For me it is about using all of the screen. Between the lost space on the top with the notch and the pill on the bottom, the 6.3 inch screen functions like a 5.5 inch screen.

I'd miss double tapping the nav button to quickly toggle between apps. Is there an equivalent in the gesture scheme?

I always hated iphone for not having those navigation buttons but looks like i am getting one phone without it. I wish google had kept option for it.
