Pixel 2xl had no hdmi out capabilities. Does Pixel 3XL have hdmi out from usb c? It is a standard usb c feature in most devices. Google disabled it to force casting. I prefer hdmi.

I wouldn't say "most devices". Samsung dropped MHL from their devices several years ago and never included the HDMI capability in the USB-C devices. I think HTC and LG did the same.

I doubt they added it, and I don't see mention of it on a trustworthy spec site.

That would be a no for this one, too.

Huh, I didn't think that was supported. I have a Tab S3 and I don't think those support that capability.

On the Note9 it is a Dex connector made by Sammy but. you can connect it. to a tv. No idea what it. will look like. The S9 has usb c to displayport. The s8 has slimport
They all have something. My LG v20 has slimport but I don't. think the G6 has anything. The Nexus had hdmi didn't it?
Tab S3 has no hdmi capability but. it has quick connect cast for smart tvs that support screen mirroring. My tv is too old. for it

I would call Google...they sell the Mophie adapter as a phone accessory. Not sure why they would do that if it wasn't compatible. They can't be that stupid can they?

I saw some Morphie adaptors but none that were usb c to hdmi? Wired hdmi has less latency than any kind of cast ime.

Yeah, not entirely true on the Samsung one. Yes, they dropped MHL support for the Tab S3 and I think S7 or S8 line (and whatever Note came out that year), but it's definitely back since DeX became a thing, and it's there for the Tab S4. I use a cheapo USB-C-to-HDMI dongle that works with those, Win/Mac, and even the Nintendo Switch.

The Pixel line, however, doesn't seem to have any interest in bringing back support for wired connections. Kinda pushes Casting, which is what they also sell.

Is your cheapo a slimport or MHL or displayport?

USB-C hub with HDMI and USB-A ports.

I bought it a while ago, and I've used it with a Windows tablet, the Note 7/8, S9, Tab S4, and Note 9 (and Switch) with ALMOST no issues (this particular one is a bit finicky with the order you need to plug things in sometimes).

Oh, BTW, the good thing about using these with DeX-capable Samsung phones (unless it was disabled by the carrier... I think Verizon did it for their version), is that once you connect this to a TV, it asks you if you want to go into mirroring mode or if you want to do DeX... so no need for the DeX station, just use this with a TV and USB/BT keyboard/mouse and you're set.

That's hilarious. I literally have the exact same thing. It didn't work well with my LG V20 so I got a slimport adapter which works perfectly. I think that one worked with my Note 7. It might work with a Note9 then. Good. I have a hunch nothing works with Pixel

It's not a hunch, it's a fact. The Pixel line doesn't support (or it's disabled, I guess) HDMI out at all.

Just don't know if it's a mistake. Could be it only works on Pixelbook and they mistakingly put it under Pixel phones but it's been on there for about a year.

I see the it now. It doesn't say if it works with Pixel but once could easily draw that inference. Will have to wait to hear if anybody has luck with it. Calling Google or Verizon is usually a waste of time because customer service reps are usually clueless.

A Moshi rep might know if there is any way to communicate with one.

So far what I'm reading it won't work on the OG or the 2

Yup, no idea why it's on that page haha but the Pixel phones have no HDMI out. Plenty of posts around to confirm that.

But you think it might on the 3? Seems doubtful but I admit it is odd to advertise it there.

I don't think it will. It appears Google has told people that it would work on the 2 and it doesn't

It's not on the specs, it's not on sites that list the specs (and a couple of them usually get those right and do note MHL/HDMI-out support), so nope, very VERY unlikely the P3 would support that.
