Are you referring to using a pixel stand wireless charger or type C cable?

I would try a rebooting the phone if you didn't see if it goes back to rapid charging.

Restart just means what is says, start the phone again. No volume button. You can just turn it off, then turn it on.

It may be a problem of where the battery is on the power curve - Rapid charge only occurs in the middle, You don't rapid charge an almost dead battery, and you don't rapid charge over about 70%. (The charger - the circuit inside the phone - takes care of that.)

Cutting the phone off and back on does nothing.

I turned the phone off and held the power button and the down volume like I did when I had a samsung phone.

    This is what come up.

The latest Android update eliminated the indication of "rapid charging", and just indicates "wireless charging" now. Is that what you're seeing?

Well, at least you now know why...The phone can still rapidly charge. It's just that the OS update eliminated showing the user when it is actually "rapidly" or "slowly" charging.

Something happened in the last update where the phone absolutely does not charge at the same rate anymore. When I ride my motorcycle, I typically have waze and pandora running. My phone has a direct USB to the battery for charging. This past saturday I took a nice 2.5 hour ride, left at 100%, came home at 50%. My battery used to stay full while on the bike and charge past its usage rate. Also noticed it charges way slower when connected to my laptop now than it used to.

    Not happy about this.

    Simple. It's called projection.

I'm not an engineer but can you test the charging system with some sort of instrument? I think it's more likely it wasn't charging than a malicious change to the operating system is responsible.

More like baseless speculation but to each his own I guess.

The charging rate depends on a few things - like condition of the battery (how many times have you let it drop below 40%, how many times have you left the phone in a car in the sun), and where on the charge curve you're looking. Charging from 40% to 70% is faster with rapid charging, but charging from near 0 isn't (until you reach about 30%), neither is charging from 80% to 100%.

And if you let the battery drop to near 0%, you can kill in in a couple of months. The further below 50%, the shorter the lifespan. (Lithium batteries are not deep-discharge batteries.)

Oddly enough, on my ride to work today on the motorcycle, it stayed fully charged from 95% to when I got to work a half hour later. This was with using waze and pandora again. Maybe its not necessarily my phone but my USB cable being finicky. I need to do more testing.
