At least for me, it would be more convenient for ringtone/notification volume to be the default volume adjustment when I press the volume rocker on the side of the phone. I can't find a way to change that. On my phone what shows up is media volume adjustment. Is it just me?

Not sure if the Pixel has the option, but on Samsung phones you can toggle that in the Sound and Vibration Settings (there's an 'Use Volume keys for media' toggle).

It's been that way on the pixel for awhile now , can't change that, can tap the Bell for silent, vibrate, ringer then in and adjust the bars.

I would think most people are more frequently adjustting ringtone/notification volume than media volume during the course of a day. I dunno.

I'm going to send a feedback on this , you should also maybe get them to change it.

Can you provide a link where to do that? I have on occasion thought of other things as well. Thanks

Funny, I remember back in the day when people complained about the polar opposite (myself included... I seldom adjust notification volume and would prefer adjusting Media, which is what we get now apparently). For ME, I either turn it on or set to vibrate. Never have to change notification volume levels. For music, however, that's the main thing I (ME ME ME, MY case) do on my phone. I thought Samsung's option was due to the opposite being default on stock Android, but I guess not (glad they have that toggle, though, for people who are on your usage scenario).

I think the optimal solution would be for the volume buttons to be aware of what is happening... If you are playing media, then they should adjust that. But if you are just using the phone, they should adjust ringtone and notification volume.

And Google should add back separate ringtone and notification volumes... Maybe Nexus phones never had it, but the Nexus 5x (Pixel 2 now) was my first non-Motorola phone and that is when I found that pet peeve.
