How's your battery life on Android 10?

I need to do an update to my previous post in this thread.

My battery life is SIGNIFICANTLY better with Android 10. I didn't charge my phone since last evening, got up this morning with 74% and then was heavily texting several other cell phone geek friends for a solid two hours while watching the new iPhone keynote. Battery only dropped 10% in those two hours.

My battery life on my P3 seems a little better, maybe. Hard to tell. I charge it once a day and rarely if ever drop below 50% charge. Which was true with 9 and also now with 10.

It's been a little more than 2 days and in my experience the battery life has gotten a little better. I used to average 4 1/2 to 5hr SOT now I'm getting around 6hr.

6hr SoT? Is it the 3 or 3XL? That's impressive.

I can barely make it to 4hr SoT

For what it's worth, my Pixel 2 battery usage is slightly greater on A10 than it was on Pie. Still enough to comfortably get me through the day though.

It's the 3XL but remember everyone's usage will be different so in turn SOT will be different.

That a fair point.

I guess with my heavy use 3-4 hrs SoT is the best my Pixel 3 can manage. Can't get through the day without charging at least once.

Pixel 3 battery usage details for the past couple of days. Light use managed to get 4.5 hours SoT with 13% remaining, which is very rare for me.

Noticed app usage tracking is a bit off. Now it says Instagram is eating up huge amount of the battery, previously it was another app. Is it some system usage being assigned to random apps?

On the upside, it does seem standby/idle battery consumption is lower.

The first 2-3 days after upgrade the battery was worse. Now it's been a week and the battery life seem to get back to what Android 9 used to be. Perhaps it just takes a few days for it to adapt.

My battery was draining like crazy. I've seen some people say that they just shut off location services. Rather than doing that, I went through the location services menu and disabled location services for all the things that never need to know where I am, set most of the others to "allow only when app is in use" and only kept the essential apps able to use my location at any time. After the upgrade to 10 I probably would have seen my battery drop around 4% just typing this. With the new location permissions, it hasn't even dropped 1%. I am a happy camper.

Side note: the new gesture navigation is friggin awesome!

So far (less than 24 hrs) I'd say the battery life for my phone is actually worse. Nothing extreme but it is noticable. I just did the update without wiping the cache or factory resetting anything, so maybe doing that would help. But with the pixel stand and wired fast charging the battery life doesn't bother me. I still got over 4 hrs last night of screen time where I was getting 5 hours. Gonna wait for the OS to set up and re learn my habits before I do anything about the battery life. On the positive side, my phone is hauling *** now. Seems far quicker and far more responsive than ever before. As usual every phone even within the same model family is different so your mileage may vary.

My battery life was fine after the initial Android 10 installation but the newer version that was pushed in late September has really been awful for my battery life. When I check my app usage it's no different than before (maybe 1 or 2% for my most frequently used apps) but on average I am ending work around 20% or so less life than I did before and it's mostly in my pocket for the day. Anyone else also experiencing a negative change since this update?

No I'm sorry, Android 10 on my 3XL my battery life is pretty good. And I was part of the beta stages as well.

The second Android 10 update screwed with my battery. Seemed terrible at first but I think has improved after a few days.
