Google VPN connecting to non US servers?

After the last update it seems as though the VPN is connecting to non US servers. Anyone else having this problem? I've tried to enter a couple of online sweepstakes that are US only and they say "the contest is not available in my country". There is no way to see what country/server the VPN is connected to as far as I can tell. Anyone notice this? TIA. I have a Pixel 3XL.

You can turn the VPN off, connect to the site and when you are done turn the VPN back on. That is what I would do.
