Sorry if this has been discussed before (couldn't find any threads) but coming from a Samsung S10+ that charges quickly to my 4XL that shows charging rapidly (which it really doesn't seem to do?) am I missing something on how slow it charges with the factory Pixel 18W charger?

Mine charges fast, not sure what the wattage is for Samsung devices maybe it's got much higher wattage and would explain why it feels slower. If I charge it for 20 mins I get like 40-50% battery.

Could be just me then as my XL is showing "charging rapidly" and it will take 16 minutes to charge 10% (90% to 100%)

I think it's because when there is like 10-15% battery left the pixel slows down the charging speed to protect the phone. At least that was how the pixel 3 xl worked but I haven't paid attention to it on the 4 xl. But it would slow it down purposely I think so the battery lasts longer over time. Google it you should find tons of info on this and how it works.

Batteries charge on a curve, charging at full speed when the battery stress is at it's lowest, then easing back as it nears saturation (full charge).

I'm quite curious how the batteries in those megawatt charging phones will hold up after 18 months or so.

Lipo batteries love fractional, frequent charging. If you just bounced back and forth between like 30-80%... They'd stay fresh as a mountain spring for years.

Yeah don't expect the Pixels to charge as fast as Samsung devices. It’s fast just not as fast as other flagships. It’s charging rapidly to Googles standards. Lol.

The last 10% to 100% will always charge more slowly as Google throttle it to protect the battery. It will charge faster at lower battery levels.

Yep pixels charge fairly fast all things considered, but Moto and Samsung phones blow them away in out right charging speed. I've had to learn to be more patient with my pixel when it comes to charging time.... I guess I was spoiled ;-)

I agree, I guess I've been spoiled by how fast my S10+ charges. I ran my 4xl down to 20% and it took forever even though it showed charging rapidly/A minor annoyance for an otherwise great phone

I'm surprised , because my pix 3a charges fast , I dont know what difference Google did with that series my pixel 3xl or 2xl wasn't this fast

Battery size... Both are about 15% larger, so given that the charge speed is pretty much identical, there's your difference.
