My P4 is silencing text messages and I don't know why?

Long shot but I'll ask... This seems to only happen on my Pixel 4.

Sound notifications will just turn off for text messages. They only vibrate. I don't know what is causing it. Maybe turning on Do Not Disturb overnight? I've checked the usual suspects (I think) including the notification channel settings for my SMS app, Pulse.

Weird part: If I reboot the phone, sound returns.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Also, try a different ringtone. Make sure that whatever ringtone you choose, it is one that is native to your new phone, not one that carried over from an earlier device.

Thanks (both of you). When I set up Pulse on a new device, I have to set up the notifications again. Nothing carries over. I'm using a ringtone that comes with the Pixel but I think it's one that you download to use. It currently has a trashcan icon next to it when I view it in the sounds setting. Tapping on it plays the sound immediately.

I forgot to mention that the phone still vibrates. Just the sound stops.

I'm going to try a different ringtone first. Then try Messages instead.
