Now that the 4a is up for pre-order, can anyone explain why the Verizon version is priced $30 higher than the unlocked and Fi versions?

Has this always been the case? I'm just curious; never paid attention in the past.

Maybe go for the unlocked version. Verizon is usually the same tho so no idea, maybe a typo.

Ordered mine! I really hope Google keeps carving out the value niche by letting Apple/Samsung fight over the $$$ categories.

I’m looking forward to the 2020 Nexus!

I ordered too, but I may cancel before it ships. I need to decide if I can live without wireless charging. I'm excited to have the AptXHD BT audio codec again though so I can use my amazing Audio Technica HD audio headphones, which sound so much better than my Sony WH-1000XM3s.

I'm so used to not having a headphone jack that I would gladly trade the headphone jack for wireless charging...

I thought it was too - turns out is isn't - read some good things about the phone and for the price - what's not to like?

I've used Google Fi for several years and only buy unlocked phones. Besides, I have a 4XL and don't need to drop to a 4a just now.

Really, I was just curious why the Verizon version is priced $30 higher.

We'll see. I first had wireless charfing on a 2009 Palm Pre, and had been frustrated since then with phones that didn't have it. And I've gotten used to having it again..

It really should be ubiquitous in 2020...

I wondered that as well and went for the unlocked model. The only thing I can figure is that the Verizon one comes with a SIM card, but $30 seems a bit high for that, especially when they give you one for free if yours is defective. Unless they just assume that you're a new customer and that's the activation fee. Or it's the "upgrade fee" they charge existing customers when they get a new phone through them. Which is ridiculous since you can swap in the SIM card you already have and it doesn't cost a thing. But..ya know... Verizon.

Verizon charges separately to active the new SIM which is a ripoff
