Hey all. I've been getting bothered by my Pixel 5a to upgrade to Android 13 for a while now and am getting sick of it. I understand it's for security and bugs, but i know from experience that updates always cause phones to run slower, if not cause more problems with apps or features.

I'm willing to try to upgrade to it, but i'd like to make a full/complete backup with a service/application that can preferably take a full image backup that can be restored if needed.

I'm looking for something similar to Clonezilla for laptops/desktops that can take a full image backup that can be restored fully as if nothing changed.

Does anybody know any options for full android image backups, or at least the next closest thing to that to restore the phone from a backup?

If you are talking about an app like Macrium Reflect for Android, I don't think it's possible. Mainly because of the way the operating systems are installed.

I'm starting from scratch as far as knowledge of backup solutions for android goes. I've normally just copied the entire phone drive to my desktop when i connect it up. Plus backup text messages and phone calls, note the apps i have installed, take a picture of my home screens, etc.

I figured it would be nice to just be able to do an image backup, but sounds like i'm just going to have to stick with my usual way of doing things.

You don't use Google back up? Calls Messages, photos,apps etc..

I use it for contacts (after not realizing it was enabled after a couple phone transfers ago), but that's it.
Photos and all other visible data when connected to my desktop i just copy to my desktop.
Messages and call history i transfer via a specific app, and apps i just check and install manually on the new phone.

I don't fully trust cloud backups, but the contacts saving just seemed to be so convenient that i never turned it off.
Plus i don't think i could find an app specifically for transferring contacts.

Its good to have back ups in multiple places as for cloud like Google when going between devices it does pretty good job in transferring my back ups over , try xda forums see what they say for more complete back up like to computer. I don't know if you remember helium but back in those days you had to be rooted for complete back up.but xda would know.
