Sometimes P6 only allows option or pattern unlock, not fingerprint?

Ironically, I just posted this question on the Google support forum. My P6P would request a pin at least once a day (no reboot, just randomly).

"Apparently", it's a known thing and is considered part of a security check. Doesn't bother me, but it definitely was noticed....
The "security check" part is supposed to be like every 48 hours, or after a restart, etc. Not several times a day for no reason.

I gotcha.....it's only been once a day or two so far. I never realized my P5 does the same thing, but not as frequent.

I just got the other P6 yesterday, so I'm going to see if both the P6s do this.

I'm also experiencing this. I have to say that Smart Lock Location is not working very well for me. I have a coupled of times discovered that my location accuracy was low, which I suppose is another issue, but anyway, I have since then had issues with smart lock even when my location accuracy was high and the phone was aware that I was in a trusted location.

I think this is a normal security process that just ensures that every once in a while, PIN is used instead of biometrics.

I have yet to have this happen. Only time would be after a fresh reboot, otherwise my fingerprint is pretty consistent.
Did you all have the issue, mess with the animation scale under developer settings by chance? I know that was affecting the finger print showing albeit I thought it only affected AOD.

But what is odd to me it's that it is more insistent in Pixel 6 then it was with 3 using the same Android 12 OS.

If I unlock my phone 20 times an hour, I shouldn't have to put a PIN/PASSWORD in three or four times. I've never had it be this insistent since I've used biometric unlock on any device.

Right, but it is odd that I'm still using the same OS in this phone as I did in the Pixel 3, yet the 6 asks for password,/PIN that much more often.
It will ask from time to time , not sure what condition will trigger it besides restart or being away from device for few hours but this what Samsung mentions in biometric so somehow your able to trigger it Screenshot_20211223-103037_Settings.jpg

I've noticed on occasion if you have it in your pocket or somewhere with the AOD being touched or buttons it will trigger it as well ..
