I only know a flat screen and never thought about buying a phone with a curved one, until now. I know it's totally subjective, but to those of you who have have the 6 Pro in your hot little hands, what do you think about the "controversial" curved screen? Is it a distraction, false finger swipes, hard to get a case/screen protector to fit? Or is it no big deal, and you kind of like it?

No issues finding cases or screen protectors. Sometimes I miss hit the screen because my finger touches the curve by mistake but it's all muscle memory. Never had a curved screen before.

This is the first device I've used with a curved display and I have not had any issues. I was able to get a screen protector that works well with the fingerprint sensor. Overall happy so far.

The curved screen is not controversial. As when any new device hits the market there are not many accessories for it, but that quickly changes. I mean the device was only officially available for order a month ago. The curved screen looks nice, and once you get used to finger placement, accidental touches become a rarity.

The "controversy" is only that I see a lot of people mention they hate it and won't but the Pro because of it. Doesn't seem like a deal breaker, but guess it is for some.

I actually love the curved display and there is actually a setting where you can lower the sensitivity of the edges. I didn't find it necessary to do that but the option is there if you need it. I am just excited about this phone. it's awesome! it really is

I wondered some about the curved screen too. But I have no issues. The edges seem less touch sensitive than the flat area. Sometimes have to get a couple of extra taps in to close adds whose X is in the curved edge area. But accidental touches seem to be on par with what I had with a Samsung S20FE.

I like it. One unexpectedly helpful thing about it is that from a tactile standpoint, it helps me know that I'm starting the Back swipe gesture in the right place.

Be aware, though, that with this kind of screen, cases tend not to have a prominent raised lip to protect the sides of the screen -- the lips are at the top and bottom of the case. That's how my Spigen Liquid Air and Moment cases are designed, anyway.

I prefer this curved screen to the one on my S10+. With the Galaxy I get issues like the screen not responding because I have accidentally got the edge being touched at the same time, etc. I have had zero issues with the curved screen on my p6p.it is more like the curved screen on the 2xl than on a Samsung.

I finally got a chance to play around with the 6 and 6 Pro at the Verizon store yesterday. The curve is a little less than I expected and makes the screen seen wider than the vanilla 6 by more than it actually is in the specs. Is there actually any more viewable area for text than the 6, or is it just perception due to curve and the lack of a bezel? One review actually said the Pro had less room for text, which doesn't make any sense https://www.computerworld.com/articl...xel-6-pro.html

I compared the Pro to my 6 year old G4, which I always thought of as a fairly big phone. The Pro is just as wide (a good thing!), but wow, that thing is TALL! The Verizon people were too immersed in setting up phones for a couple customers and couldn't unlock the phones from their totally immovable Security locks, so couldn't put either in my pocket to see how much it will stick out in real world conditions. I think the extra vertical real estate will come in handy in places like Google Maps where the extra overlayed crap at the top and bottom of the screen gets in the way of the actual map (hope the app doesn't just scale it to take up the same percentage of the screen). I was surprised to see my old G4 screen still looked pretty good compared to the regular 6 in terms of clarity (532 PPI on the G4 compared to 411 PPI on the 6) in the limited conditions I could compare the two.

BTW, how do you get the old "Back, Home, and Clear All" navigation buttons to appear at the bottom of the screen?

The LG 4 I'm using was my first Smart Phone and remember that feeling, wading through all the cool customizations I had no idea you could do with a phone. I am looking forward to that feeling again .

After having my LG for 5 years, I just started using Assistant and don't ever want to go back to typing out searches again. It doesn't get it right every time, but close enough. The other reason I'm looking at the Pixel 6/Pro is the dictation feature. The one on my phone sucks, and often mistypes and capitalizes the wrong words.

Like all the other phones I have had with a curved screen, I like it. It's especially nice using the "back" gesture. Your finger sort of rolls up over the glass curve and onto the screen.

The only significant problem with curved screens is usually no glass screen protectors that work well. TPU works because it can be pressed down over the edges. It looks and feels great for a week but then I get "worn down" areas on the screen (this could just be a me problem).

Anyway, curved screen is great on this phone.

There are simply more "issues" with curved screens. Accidental presses and fragility are the two main complaints. The only phone screen that ever cracked on me was the Galaxy S7. And that was with the slightest of falls.

But there are so many both on this and other forums who hate curved screens. So its clearly is a controversial subject.
