I believe you can get something similar to Macro Mode by using the telephoto lens but being up close to the subject. I've seen some lovely results and had good results myself.

Telephoto is definitely better than getting up close physically with the camera. I didn't realize at first that the 6 Pro, with all of its amped up camera hardware, is actually not as good as my old Pixel 3 XL and 3a XL at true macro photography (which I like to do when out on a nature hike).:-\ I wonder if Google will be able to tweak the camera software to overcome the limitations of the larger sensor?

So this is with the telephoto lense, about 2 or 2-1/2 inches from the yarn. Not technically macro, but pretty good for me.

Pretty good indeed! But what I've noticed is that close-up shots on the 6 Pro have more areas of blurriness than my previous phones. Part of it seems to be almost too much depth of field.

Yes, I think you're correct. I also think if I'd backed off another 1/2 inch or so more of it would have been in focus.

This is taken at 20x zoom and the same bottle at 1x. I am about a metre from the bottle.

This is the same raspberry on the lab with me at 4x zoom and about 3 inches from the bottle. Actually a lot better than the 20x digital zoom. I didn't use night sight and the only light is from my TV.

Here's another using the telephoto at 4x. This time I'm about 3 - 4 inches away.

ABILITY TO REMOVE THE GOOGLE SEARCH BAR

without having to resort to a 3-party launcher like Nova.

Would be nice if the app icon theming was completed for non G apps.
I'd really like it if they would put the vibrate icon back in the status bar at top when your phone is in vibrate so you don't forget that it is.
And how about a flashlight icon on the lock screen for easy access (as on iphones).

There is no Vibrate icon on the status bar?? My old LG G4 has that and will definitely be missed. Sheesh, Google!
A Flashlight icon on the Lock Screen would be nice too :).

The missing vibrate icon has been bothering me since I got Android 12. I really wish they'd fix that.
