i know now isn't the best time for international travel. but dual sim is one of the main reasons i'm considering the pixel 6. and i'm wondering if anyone has used it for international travel and how well it worked.

    thanks!

I actually downloaded my eSIM to my Google Pixel 6 pro and it's pretty awesome. actually, I like the way the phone switches or gives you the option to switch between your hard Sim and your esim based on what you decide you want to do. Not only that, but Google Fi is the best if you want to travel outside of the country. And, you can easily switch between the two. it's great

oh! i had a pretty bad time with Fi two years ago and had to drop it after a month. maybe they're worth a second try. but i thought i read somewhere that Fi really wasn't intended for use outside the US, and you can get kicked off for excessive international data or calls.

I don't know if Fi ever had a restriction on use outside of the US but it specifically has rates for international use in 200 countries and that is why I'm considering adding it via my eSIM

Yip. I always use 2 Sims in my devices.
Have a main physical sim and backup esim.

Have roamed no issues on both.

Switching between them is a right pita on the pixel, but works. ( One UI , miui , colorOS etc all one swipe and a click to swap. - pixel 8 clicks. )

I also suffer from Sim1 sometimes not registering on the network when coming off WiFi , sim2 is ok and a toggle of flight mode fixes. Yet another pixel bug.

    i just looked it up...

Fi's Terms of Service requires you to use our service primarily in the United States (territories not included). If you plan to stay abroad for an extended period of time, we recommend you use a local carrier until you can return to the US. We grant exceptions to military and State Department employees who serve abroad.

thank you. this concerns me. i've been trying both the pixel and an iphone 13P for the last month and am leaning towards switching to ios for this reason (and smaller device with better cameras).

What do they consider an extended period of time?

As long as you have a valid Fi account you’re fine. You’re auto-billed about $20 for line and whatever data used. I only use my eSIM Fi account for testing 5G currently. My physical AT&T SIM is my primary line use. Google doesn’t care how little I use my Fi account line as long as the $20+ gets paid every month. If traveling, I can remove AT&T SIM for any carrier SIM where needed.
